Yes, I agree with so much you say here. It could be because here on Medium there is a whole lot of bragging going on. I’m never not shocked by how common it is. I’ve learned to skim to find some substance and if there isn’t any, to just move on. I cringe when I see dollar amounts as a sign of success.

There is much to learn from the writers here, and for the most part they’re incredibly interesting, but this isn’t a competition. At least not to me. I can’t speak to the other places you’re talking about but I find enough good stuff here on Medium to be able to sidestep the “Look how great I am!” stories.
