The biggest problem, I think, is that our culture now feels we have the right to judge everyone without knowing anything about them. Their defense is never enough when it comes to rock-solid, unbending opinion.

A jury trial for something like this was a travesty. It never should have seen the light of day, but since it did, it’s fodder for every media source, for every online social network, for every neighborhood gabfest. Two peoples’ lives laid out bare, as if they’re specimens to study and not human beings.

It’s unspeakable.
