Thanks for responding, Shaunta. You really did it for me and I can't thank you enough for the wake-up call. I should have figured it out for myself!

I hear you on the front page stories, and said something about it in my piece. I get that it's algorithms or some such, but my point is that Medium should have better things to do than to analyze what I read and decide for me that I'll always want to read those same things.

Their front page should be curated by their own editors, choosing well-written stories that people might actually want to read--if they knew they existed.

But I'm going to turn off the 'writing' notification for a while to see if that helps. Thanks!
