So your warnings are the same as mine, except I would never tell writers not to join pubs. I tell them, instead, what to watch for and let them make up their own minds.
By the way, I don't know any owners of small publications--which is what I'm talking about here (See title)--who are in it to increase their own 'fame and success'. How is that done? Nobody pays us extra to be pub owners.
I do what I do as a pub owner for one reason only: to highlight good writing. I don't get anything extra for it beyond satisfaction.
