Judy, thanks so much for responding. (I’m just now having my first cup of coffee, too, so this may not make much sense. Lol)

I may not have made it clear enough, but what I meant about THIS form of “religion” is that, unlike so many other religions, it imposes nothing on the rest of us. We believe or we don’t believe. They go on their decidedly odd way and aren’t out there waving signs on street corners, or harassing abortion clinics, or running for office…

I am an atheist with a history as a Lutheran. Lutheran baptismal, church, confirmation, I taught Sunday school, went to Lutheran school in the 7th and 8th grades, was married in a Lutheran church, had my first two children baptized in a Lutheran church… but by the time the third one came along, in 1966, I was no longer interested in religion. At. All.

I remembered as I wrote this that I had written a blog a couple years ago about my feelings on religion, so I revised it and just published it here on Medium. You might be interested in it. Thanks again.
