It’s simply not true that Bernie campaigned hard for Hillary. Nor that he campaigned harder than Hillary did for Obama. Nor that Hillary wouldn’t concede to Obama. (That was from a Jonathan Allen story, long debunked) https://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/08/us/politics/08dems.html
It pains me that Bernie has gone the way he has, and that he seemingly endorses the strong-arm tactics of too many of his supporters. It’s common enough now that it’s impossible even for him to ignore.
I’ve never said that all of Bernie’s supporters behave like cult members, but there are many who do. One look at Twitter today as they go after Neera Tanden (trending, thanks to Bernie’s supporters attacking her mercilessly) should be enough. It’s sickening.
You seem like a reasonable person. You must be able to see how unfair the attacks often are whenever anyone dares to admit that Bernie isn’t their choice for president. I won’t be shamed into making their choices instead of my own. And, as a long-time Democrat dedicated to my party, I won’t be swayed by ridiculous arguments that I’m no better than a Republican.
I know who I am and what I stand for. I have no problem with anyone supporting the candidates of their choice. That’s what this period is for. I would never DEMAND that people must see it my way, or else.
There’s the difference.
