It doesn't happen as often anymore--I hope--but certain writers used their space to attack other writers in ways that were often noxious and downright sickening. Medium did nothing to stop it, and, while I was never a victim or a participant, those awful stories helped me make the decision to leave Medium for the most part and find other outlets for my work. I now have two newsletters on Substack and the atmosphere there is far healthier for me and far more conducive to creativity.
