I’m not sure the question here is about hierarchy or even skill as much as it is about definition. ‘Content creator’ is a business term, not to be confused with other more general or lyrical kinds of writers. When it’s used properly I have no problem with it, but I find it annoying that suddenly every writer on Medium is calling their writing ‘content’ or are calling themselves ‘content creators’ when they don’t fit into that category.

Many writers can wear different hats and I applaud them for it, but a non-fiction writer, no matter how creative with words, wouldn’t call herself a poet. And if she did, someone would surely point out the difference.
