I won't say I'm 'happy' to see even the best still admitting to being scared every time you're starting a piece, but I will say I'm in good company, then.
And, yes, every time I write a piece I'm proud of, I'm terrified when I have to start the next one.
I write short pieces these days but I rarely know exactly what I want to say until I've written the first couple of paragraphs--which may go through 10 drafts before I get it where I want it. Then I'm off to the races, until I stop just short of the finish line, wondering what I have to do to get across it.
Great piece. I'm saving it to read whenever I need to.
