I quit Medium this morning and moved to Substack for that very reason. The strange and deliberate silliness of it was gnawing at me and I stopped taking Medium seriously. I'll still pay my $5/mo and maybe write here now and then, but any real relationship we might have had went out the window when they turned this website into a competition where they make the rules and don't understand the cruelty behind it.

Thank you for writing this. It wasn't that I needed the money, either, but I did want to feel my worth. They made that impossible by choosing to leave me out of their lottery for two months in a row.

They are who they are, but then so am I, and I choose to leave.
