How interesting. I’d never heard many of those stories. Well done!

On the other side, my friend wrote a delightful YA, got an agent, had it published, did a book tour, and her husband wouldn’t acknowledge any of it. He treated it like a supreme inconvenience because the fuss wasn’t about him. The few times we saw him at a reading or a conference, he made sure to put her down, as if we were all on his side instead of hers. We’d mutter something like, “That’s not very nice…” and move away. We should have punched him.

Anyway, she threatened to write this in her acknowledgement: “I want to thank my husband for discouraging me, thus spurring me on to try even harder.” Lol.
