I’ve written about this, too, as have other writers on Medium who are alarmed at the amount of crap out there, and at the number of articles encouraging people to produce stories multiple times a day — in effect pushing quantity, not quality.

It makes me crazy because there are many things I like about Medium but I’m increasingly uncomfortable with a site that puts up a paywall keeping readers out but encourages thousands of non-writers to go ahead and give writing a shot.

No good will ever come of it, and in the meantime I resist adding Medium to my resume. I’m getting word that many publishers don’t see it as a legitimate source for writers. It’s not hard to see why they would think that.
