First of all, we need to stop calling the people who produce these things ‘writers’. Don’t dignify them with that title. They’re robot handlers. We’re the writers and there will always be a place for us.
I think Amazon needs a new category for those hybrids and the publishing industry needs to make it clear this is not ‘writing’, robots are not writers, and artificial word wrangling has no place in publishing.
Don’t give any of it any kind of legitimacy. Talking about it, worrying about it gives it a place at our table, as if it’s on our level and eventually we’ll get used to working side by side with them.
Nonhuman writing will always be inferior. Let’s treat it that way. It’ll never replace us—not unless we roll over and let it.
