Congratulations on the bonus! I don’t mean to imply that Medium writers don’t deserve them. Of course you do! It’s just that I’ve I read so many comments from writers who where honestly confused about whey they got it, since they hadn’t done much in April, the month the bonus covered.

Medium did acknowledge ‘excellent writing’, and I’m all for that, of course. But you’re right that it’s all guesswork until Medium decides to be more transparent. I won’t hold my breath!
