As an owner/editor of a Medium publication that screams 'resonance', not just in the guidelines but in the title--Indelible Ink--my main gripe, beyond carelessness and laziness, is the use of passive phrases. My guidelines are long and clear, with emphasis on creative non-fiction, yet I turn down more stories than I accept, mainly because of chronic passivity.
