And yet whenever anything gets done that actually helps lower and middle class Americans it’s the Democrats who do it, while the Republicans scream and yell about how we can’t afford it. All we can ever afford, according to them, is tax breaks for the rich. And more money for the military.

The Dems have a long history of successes, but they’re all now being undermined by the GOP. They have the power to end all social programs and all infrastructure and environmental projects. They’ve fought against universal health care since it was first suggested and they’re getting their way. We’re taking more steps backward than we are forward. We could change that in a few weeks. But will we? Or will we go on deriding the Dems while the GOP sees their power as a mandate and make it even worse?
