An interesting take, Zulie. I do try to respond to most comments, but I clearly don’t get as many as you do. I like interacting with my readers — even the ones who don’t agree with me. I’m essentially an opinion writer so that kind of back and forth comes naturally for me. I expect reactions when I write, but when it becomes a pissing contest I shut it off.

I didn’t read the piece you describe, where the writer advocates commenting to get under someone’s skin in order to draw attention to his own work, but that’s the kind of stuff on Medium that drives me crazy.

I don’t expect you to respond to this, and that’s okay. We’re all free to manage our work in our own way. This was interesting and well worth the read.
