A major problem with Medium, as I see it, is the paywall. Rumors are that they may start taking ads, and what that will do for writers' pay is anyone's guess. But the way it is now, any of our readers who aren't signed up are zeros for us when it comes to payment, no matter how many we bring in with our friends links.

I've moved to Substack for many reasons, but I still have a publication here and I'm still paying attention to what Medium does. It should be interesting.

Right now the whole process seems chaotic and needlessly complicated.
